Esperanza Art & Culture Tour

Highlights of a personalized guided tour of Oaxaca Mexico

May 6 2025
Tara & Raciel in Oaxaca

Have you heard about Esperanza Art & Culture Tour yet? As you probably know my husband Raciel is also an artist and is originally from Oaxaca Mexico. Over the years we have traveled Mexico extensively and have created this unique tour as a way to share our favorite aspects of Oaxaca with you.

Raciel was born and raised in Oaxaca. He moved to the U.S. for college and we met several years after. I have traveled to Mexico many times with Raciel and Oaxaca has inspired me artistically as well. Before painting succulents I had been painting about Oaxaca and Mexico for many years. You can see those works in my "Las Ventanas a Mexico" series. I have always been very drawn to Mexican culture and art. Raciel and I absolutely love Oaxaca. We understand the nuances of the city and we look forward to sharing the magic of Oaxaca through this carefully curated guided tour.

As we are still riding the bliss wave from our last tour to Oaxaca Oct. 2023 we are planning the next one for fall of 2026.

About the tour

Each day includes activities relating to art, folk art, historical & indigenous sights, markets, traditional food & drink, and nature. This is truly an extraordinary experience to travel like a local with the locals. We take our tour off the typical tourist beaten path and explore aspects of Oaxaca not normally accessible to tourists. On the Esperanza Art & Culture Tour we have a carefully planned itinerary to provide a culturally diverse and highly personalized experience. We start out by exploring Oaxaca city and surrounding pueblos for their specialtlies in food and art for a little over a week. SO much art from street art to museums. And OH.... the food. One must visit Oaxaca with a big appetite because the culinary arts are a huge part of the experience. We think Oaxacan food is the very best of Mexico and definitely ranks one of the best in the world. We consume everything from market food, to home cooked meals prepared by the Esperanza family, and fine dining meals as well.

From there we head to Huatulco on the coast and soak up some tropical adventures before returning home. Huatulco is truly paradise. There are 7 bays of Huatulco and the beaches are pristine. We swim, we snorkel, and have a fabulous boat day visiting secluded beaches. It's a perfect final chapter of the tour!

"Oaxaca is beautiful and friendly, rich with art, history, and culture. The Esperanzas offer such an immersive and personal view of the place they love. Even if you've been to Mexico before, you've never visited Mexico the Esperanza way!"
